Australian Military Mobility Centre

Military Mobility is the quality or capability of military forces which permits them to move from place to place while retaining the ability to fulfil their primary mission; as it applies to the Land Environment.

The concept is to establish the Australian Military Mobility Centre (AMMC) in Bendigo, Victoria; the innovative hub in the development of a globally competitive local industry in the design, manufacture and servicing of military mobility capability.

The benefits of having a world class research and development facility are in economic development, innovation and industry development.  The global market for military mobility is changing through a higher rate of the evolving nature of war and the environment in which it is conducted. Many of the world's military forces have recognised this change with existing land platforms not necessarily meeting the emerging requirements.  This has resulted in changes in military mobility needs, technologies, acquisition strategies, and through life support concepts. The long standing paradigms of military mobility are changing and the gap requires the fusion of military mobility knowledge.

The market for military mobility solutions worldwide is worth billions of dollars both in the supply of vehicles and service support.  The market is very competitive and the opportunities for the Australian defence industry to compete in this market in the future will depend on its ability to be innovative and work collaboratively.
