Bendigo Manufacturing Group
History
The Bendigo Manufacturing Group (BMG) was established by the City of Greater Bendigo as an outcome of the industrial land strategy in recognition of the importance and diversity of manufacturing industries to the regional economy. The BMG was formed in November 2001.
Objectives
The BMG is an action-oriented group focused on the needs and issues of local manufacturing businesses. The Objectives are:
- To establish the best possible environment and infrastructure for manufacturing industries
- To encourage and promote manufacturing industries
- To explore initiatives that facilitate development in the manufacturing sector.
Meeting
Meetings are held on the first Friday of each month (excluding January). In addition, members provide input into specific project activities being undertaken and sub committees as required.
Role
The BMG's challenge is to improve the opportunities for local manufacturing industries. This is being done by:
- identifying and exploring issues that inhibit business operations
- Improving the image of manufacturing
- Promoting local industry capability
- Promoting and ensuring that the support agencies are available to grow the region's export markets
- Investigating opportunities through targeted research and specific events that enhance manufacturing business operations.
