Bendigo's Industry Sectors and Groups
Bendigo's industry sectors are ever-changing, developing with the needs of a growing clientele and marking central Victoria as a prime growth area. That's the message from the City of Greater Bendigo's REMPLAN figures released in late 2007, which revealed that industry is now pumping around $8 billion into the local economy.
Based on the REMPLAN analysis data of 2006 Census figures, the City has enjoyed exceptional growth since 2001 in several industry areas, with both employment growth and financial output featuring solid results for most sectors.
"The recent analysis found that the labour market experienced growth across virtually all industries, with some enjoying up to 30 per cent growth," Brian Gould, Manager - Business Development says.
"This is a good indication of the strength of the local economy, that it can support this job growth.
"In the past, much of the region's economy was reliant on one or two main industry sectors, but that's really not the case anymore. We're seeing other industries really bloom in the current climate, expanding not just on a local scene, but out into regional areas as well.
